CHRIS - A BRIEF HISTORY -- PART 2

In may of 1997, I was fortunate to get a huge opportunity to advance my career.  A corporate flight department that had been flying into Myrtle Beach and had seen me crawling my way up the career ladder called and offered me a job in Charlotte, North Carolina.  So with only a 1000 hours of total time and a mere 15 hours of multi-engine piston time, I moved on to flying textiles CEO's and employees around in a fleet of aircraft including:  a King Air 200, a King Air 300, a Citation II, a Citation V and a CitationJet.

After about a year and a half flying corporately, in September of 1998 I was lured away to my current job, flying air-ambulance for MedCenter Air here in Charlotte, NC.  I enjoy this job more than any other I've held.

MedCenter Air flies both patients and organs to and from hospitals from as far north as Alaska to as far south as Brazil and all over the continental U.S.  Our organization has 18 pilots (9 first officers and 9 captains).  I am a captain on both the Citation V and the King Air 200.  We have 4 aircraft: a corporate configured King Air 200, 2 air-ambulance configured King Air B200s, and an air-ambulance configured Citation V.  They are great aircraft and I really enjoy the type of mission we fly.

THE FUTURE

I am fortunate to have had several great breaks in this flying business, and I look forward to continuing my aviation career.  I truly enjoy my job and find it to be a continuing challenge and source of excitement.  What does the future hold?  I'm not sure.  I do know that I would like to return to the coast eventually, I miss the beach.  I have no aspirations to fly for a major airline, although I probably wouldn't turn down a FedEx or UPS job.  We'll just have to wait and see!
